All Lay Clerks Leave in Solidarity

It is with a heavy heart that we announce all current Lay Clerks have decided to resign effective immediately, following an email from Fr. Sean Fernandez asking whether they wished to remain in or leave the choir.
To clarify, none of these experienced musicians want to abandon their vocations or ministry. They are deeply committed to singing in St. Mary’s Cathedral Perth Choir. However, given the current situation, they have found it impossible to continue working at the Cathedral until Jacinta is reinstated to her rightful position.
During this unsteady period, the congregation may notice new faces brought in by the acting Director of Music, Alessandro Pittorino, to fill the gap left by the Lay Clerks. At present, we do not have information about where these musicians will come from, but we will keep you updated as more details emerge.
We also wish to emphasise that this news may cause concern among members of the congregation/community and inspire them to take action. While raising your concerns through appropriate channels and sharing our socials is encouraged and the best way to win (emails below), we do not condone any disruptions to the liturgy and ask that respect be shown to any external musicians that are brought in, remaining choir members and the acting Director of Music.
We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support during this difficult time. Please consider keeping everyone involved in your prayers and advocating for peaceful dialogue to resolve this situation.
Your support means the world to us as we navigate this challenging period.
